FIRST THINGS FIRST. WHAT IS PENETRATION TESTING?

Whenever you hear of Penetration Testing or Pen Test, just know that they are exactly the same thing. As the name itself gives it away, it is a test. Just not any kind of test.

It is the art of finding your weakness in order to make you invincible. Well, not you per se, but your infrastructure.

When your computer’s system is under the penetration testing, the strength of your IT infrastructure is being evaluated by attempting to exploit weaknesses in your security system. Essentially, your system will get hacked by a cyber-security expert in a forensically sound manner, in order to identify any and all deficiencies in your security system.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?

Well, you could not have asked a better question!

The reason why a Pen Test is so vital, is because, if there are any weaknesses in your security system, you will know and it will give you the opportunity to strengthen up your infrastructure so that it will stand invincible in the face of an attack.

Through finding the vulnerabilities in your system and dealing with them, removes the risk of an attacker gaining access into your system, leaving you and all your data in the safe and secure zone.

Regular pen testing is your assurance that malicious users cannot penetrate your system.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE GREAT BENEFITS!

Cost savings.

Prevent fraud & network downtime remediating a breach.

Due diligence.

Meet regulatory standards for privacy and security.

Safeguard data.

Protect intellectual property, employee and client information.

Reputation.

Avoid negative PR and maintain client loyalty.

Oversight.

Fulfill fiduciary duty to shareholders and investors.

THIS IS HOW OFTEN YOU SHOULD HAVE A PEN TEST

As an organization, you should have a cyber security expert perform a Pen Test on a regular basis, at least once a year, every year.

Although time frame is not the only outline based on which you should decide upon a Penetration Testing.

If your organization adds a new network infrastructure or adds new applications, or whenever there are any upgrades or changes made to its infrastructure or any of its applications that carry a greater significance, you should definitely decide upon a Pen Test.

But, yet again, there are still more circumstances which would require this security testing to be carried out, such as if your organization modifies end-user policies, creates offices in new locations or applies security patches.

You should note, that if your company has a greater presence online, you are vulnerable to more cyber attacks. In this case, you should carry out a Pen Test more often.

Of course, all Penetration Testing should be tailored to the specifics of the organization in question, as well as the specifics of the industry it operates in.

SO, WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO WORK WITH TCS FORENSICS?

We provide full remediation details of detected vulnerabilities to improve security and protect infrastructure. You will receive:

  • a full list of vulnerabilities and emerging threats.
  • clear descriptions of how deficiencies were exploited to infiltrate system.
  • the relative risk for each vulnerability.
  • keystroke-by-keystroke remediation steps for each vulnerability.

Data breaches are most often the work of skilled insiders or attackers with a foothold inside the target network, so our focus is on assessing client networks internally.

IMPORTANT NOTE. AVOID PRIVACY BREACH REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.

As of November 1, 2018, organizations across Canada subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) must provide notice of certain privacy breaches.

The impact on businesses is significant and can result in fines of up to $100,000.

Penetration Testing will keep your system secure, so you can avoid the cost and bad PR of having to report a privacy breach under Canada’s new regulations.

AS A BONUS WE OFFER YOU A COMPLIMENTARY 30 MINUTES CONSULTATION

The cost of our state-of-the-art Penetration Testing is negligible when compared to the expense of a breach in your security, so call TCS Forensics now for a Penetration Test consultation.
